Caring Card Ministry

Bring Joy, One Card at a Time

Do you love crafting and spreading joy?

Do you enjoy working with paper, scissors, stickers, and embellishments? Remember the days when opening the mailbox meant more than bills and political flyers? In our digital age, a physical card that you can hold, read, and keep stands out like a beacon of thoughtfulness.

Join the Caring Card Ministry

We are launching a creative and heartwarming group that will meet throughout the year to craft seasonal cards with personal messages. These handmade cards will be sent to parishioners and others in the Midland community who could use a little extra encouragement. It may seem like a small gesture, but when you take the time to craft a card and write a thoughtful note, you are sending love, care, and kindness through the mail. These small moments can truly brighten someone’s day.

A physical card provides a lasting, positive message that people can look back on whenever they need to feel uplifted. It’s a meaningful reminder that someone took the time to think of them.

What to Expect at Our Gatherings

  • Make a card for yourself: At each meeting, you’ll create at least one card to keep and one to send to someone in need of encouragement.
  • Create with a model or your own style: Follow a model with pre-cut pieces or explore the variety of materials to create your own unique design.
  • All materials provided: Though you’re welcome to bring your favorite supplies, including paper, adhesive, or decorations, having your own adhesive (double-sided tape or glue) would be helpful, as supplies will be shared.

If you are interested in participating, contact Christy to receive the dates and times of upcoming gatherings.

Making a Bigger Impact

Beyond our local community, we may send cards to organizations like A Bright Spot, whose mission is to uplift people in need with handwritten messages. From seniors and military personnel to children in foster care or hospitals, these cards serve as a bright moment in someone’s day. According to their website:

“A Bright Spot provides that moment of care to seniors, military personnel far from home, children in foster placement, refugee children, children in the hospital, and anyone else needing a lift. For one moment of the day, they can forget everything and stop, pause, and know they are loved and that they do matter.”
