Box Full of Love
Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00 PM
Do you have a college student or two (or three) that you would like to send a little LOVE to this Valentine’s Day? If so, please join us on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00 PM for our annual “Box Full of Love” event. Here is how it works: Blessed Sacrament will buy a shoe box sized mailing box and a Valentine’s Day card for each recipient and then each participant brings an item for 10 boxes: 10 cookies OR 10 candy bars OR 10 fruit snacks OR 10 mini muffins OR 10 little toys… If you need to make more than one box, then please bring 10 items for each. Our students will end up with items from 10 different families who love them and are praying for them!
Sending care packages to college students is a thoughtful way to show support, encouragement, and love. These packages can offer comfort and remind students that their family and friends are thinking of them. Here’s why sending care packages to college students is helpful:
Emotional Support
Reduces homesickness: College students, especially freshmen, often experience homesickness. Receiving a care package can remind them of home, making them feel connected to their family and friends, even from afar.
Boosts morale: College life can be stressful due to academic pressures, social challenges, or personal struggles. A care package with thoughtful items can boost a student’s mood, providing them with a sense of being cared for.
Stress Relief
Comfort items: Care packages often include snacks, favorite treats, or even small comfort items like a cozy blanket or scented candles. These items can provide a sense of relaxation and help students unwind during stressful times like exams or deadlines.
Mental break: Sometimes, the surprise and joy of receiving a package can act as a welcome mental break, allowing students to take a short pause from their studies and recharge.
Strengthening Relationships
Shows love and care: Sending a care package is a personal gesture that shows students they are loved and supported. It can strengthen the bond between students and their families or friends.
Encourages communication: The process of sending and receiving packages can open up opportunities for conversations, allowing students to feel more connected to their loved ones.
