Parishioners Find Peace and Reflection During Cemetery Pilgrimage
On the evening of September 26th, nine parishioners, led by Angela Pasek, gathered at the City of Midland Cemetery for a moving Cemetery Pilgrimage. The event, held in the warm air of early Fall, invited participants to reflect on life, faith, and the quiet beauty of the cemetery.
Angela guided the group to what she described as the “Chapel on the Hill,” where rows of graves resemble the seating of a church, offering benches for those seeking time to sit, reflect, and find peace. She reminded everyone that cemeteries are sanctuaries—a place of refuge, tranquility, and spiritual contemplation. Amidst the stillness, the group was encouraged to disconnect from the noise of daily life and tune in to the sound of the spirit.
Each participant received a long-stemmed rose to place somewhere in the cemetery that spoke to them—a symbolic gesture to create a personal moment with God.
This peaceful and introspective event may be offered again in the Spring or next Fall, inviting more parishioners to find serenity in the sacred space of the cemetery.
